Franklinton Ready4K…Reading Skills for School

An important part of getting children ready for kindergarten is preparing them to learn how to read. Recognizing the letters of the alphabet and printed words, a growing vocabulary, and an interest in story books are essential skills and experiences for a child to have before entering kindergarten.

Ready4K is a FREE eight-month program designed for Franklinton children who will enter kindergarten in the fall of 2011. The goal of Ready4K is to ensure that Franklinton children are ready to read when they enter school. The program provides backpacks with books and learning materials, a new children’s book each month, training and coaching for parents, and learning activities for the children.

For more information about Ready4K, go to overview.  For a 2010-2011 schedule, go to Ready4K information sheet. To enroll you and your child in Ready4K, go to application form.

By working together we can give the children of Franklinton reading skills for school and a brighter future!  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions (614-761-3638; tflynn1027@aol.com).
