To Campus Ministry Leaders

Many campus ministry leaders already have a “lifelong laborers” ministry outcome perspective and hope for their students. The CampustoMarket Bridge Project simply puts teeth into that existing commitment, and acknowledges that (good, bad, right or wrong) 90% or more of our discipled seniors are ultimately entering the US marketplace mission field (rather than going “on staff”) to reach additional campuses or continents.

What we are asking is that while you nurture the10% during their critical senior year, let us help you nurture the other 90% who are ultimately entering (currently unannounced), our mission field. Here’s what we propose:

2005-2007 “CampustoMarket” Bridging-Partner
DECLARATION DRAFT

Whereas, for more than 50 years evangelical campus ministry movement leaders have tirelessly labored to disciple students to live out a Biblical worldview and reach their campus with the Gospel, and

Whereas, these same students have been prepared with a vision for a lifetime of ministry which for 90% of them (who are not called to seminary or to US/International campus staff) will be the American or International marketplace, and

Whereas, these same campus disciples will now enter into the hostile mission field of the marketplace which has a complex culture that blends strict rules with great temptation and is populated by Christian and non-Christian members who are systematically oblivious to their entry, and

Whereas, there has therefore existed a clear need to build a bridge between the disciple-making campus leaders and the disciple-making market leaders to better systematically “Bridge” these young disciples from the campus mission field to the market mission field, and

Whereas, insofar as it has to do with us, campus and marketplace disciple-maker leaders are now hereby mutually resolved to build a strong bridge that connects students called to the marketplace mission field with marketplace mentors by deploying the following action steps over a three year period:

Campus Ministry-Related Staff and Student Leaders:

  • We shall audit our “equipped for a life of ministry” disciple-making practices to ensure that every student is equipped with a Biblical perspective on vocational calling and we will endeavor to employ best practices relating to the same (with generous assistance from the MarketLife movement) so that every senior receives a Biblical laying on of hands and a proper sending into their “next” mission field, and
  • We shall provide to each senior (via all manner of conference, weekly meeting and other communication) the clear and repeated invitation to connect with the fellowship of marketplace disciple-makers/mentors in Central Ohio known as “MarketLife” as a value-adding advantage-creating ministry to these students.

Central Ohio MarketLife Leaders:

  • We commit to sacrificially continue the “whole life” interpersonal discipling of every willing newly entering student into the Central Ohio marketplace, so that they and their marketplace ministry will better flourish, and
  • We shall jointly participate in an annual update of our joint progress and share the findings of the same with our Campus partners in the context of an annual summit, for the next three years.
