Daniel Wright Elementary School Tutoring Program

The Daniel Wright Tutoring program provides you with the opportunity to tutor a child in reading once a week during the school’s lunch hour.  Daniel Wright is located at 2335 W. Case Road across from the OSU airport.  Twenty six nationalities are represented at the school, one half of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches, and nearly 30% of the students are in need of help with reading.
You don’t have to be a literacy specialist to tutor a child—the skills you will need are simple and easy to learn. Volunteers will attend an orientation session that will explain the A,B,C’s of tutoring and the logistics of the tutoring session.  Each volunteer will be assigned to a student and will be provided with a folder of materials appropriate for the student’s reading level.  A volunteer coordinator will be on site during every tutoring session to answer your questions.

Tutoring will take place on Wednesdays from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm beginning October 5, 2011.  The program will conclude on April 25, 2012. 

Orientation sessions will be held at the school on September 7, 14, and 21 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.  All tutors must attend one of these sessions.
