City Life Center
Central Ohio Youth for Christ (COYFC) serves many urban youth through its City Life Center (CLC) in Franklinton, on Columbus’ near West side. The CLC offers a variety of constructive educational, vocational, relational, and spiritual programs, with the goal of helping at-risk teens in the neighborhood succeed in a wide range of areas in their life.
Franklinton teens are too frequently tempted towards life choices that produce crime, teen pregnancy, and high school drop-out rates. Many teens are being parented by people who themselves have been unable to rise above these challenges. Through the CLC, Youth for Christ hopes to offer alternatives that will give teens a footing in success that will carry into their adult life.
COYFC operates its Wheels program at the City Life Center, training teens on auto repair. It also operates a print shop there. The CLC also hosts a teen parent program, which helps young mothers finish their education, and also works to encourage young people to be abstinent. The CLC also is home to COYFC’s City Life program, sharing with teens the hope that they can only find through a relationship with God. City Life seeks to win teens to Christ and then to help them grow in that relationship. It seeks to raise up teen leaders to serve and encourage fellow teens.
